AA 118: Wings over Kenya
Visit some of Kenya's highlights with the luxury of flying! From Amboseli National Park, where you can watch the elephant and other animals with the backdrop of Mt. Kilimanjaro, fly to Samburu National reserve in the arid north. Here you get the chance to see the animal species particular to that area, Oryx, Reticulated giraffe, Grey Zebra and gerenuk. Then fly on to the Masai Mara, famous for the annual wildebeest migration, but also for the plains teeming in wildlife, the prides of lion and the other cats. Accommodation is in luxury tented camps or lodges, and game drives take place in 4wheel drive vehicles.
Day 1: Nairobi - Amboseli
Leaving in the early morning you fly to Amboseli and, on landing, transfer to your camp and check into your rooms. You are then taken on a morning game drive returning to the lodge for lunch. The swamps are home to many herds of elephant and the elusive leopard, and the grasslands abound with plains game. A late afternoon game drive is followed by dinner and overnight at a luxury tented camp.
Day 2: Amboseli
A full day in Amboseli with morning and afternoon game drives in the camp's 4 WD vehicles in search of game perhaps not yet seen. Accommodation is on full board basis at your camp. Amboseli National Park lies at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain at 5,895m. Kilimanjaro snow capped peaks dominate every aspect of this Park and form a stunning backdrop to the wildlife found here. The area is home to the Masai people, tall, proud, nomadic warriors famous for their legendary prowess in battle and single handed acts of bravery in fights with wild animals.
Day 3: Amboseli - Samburu
You will be woken for an early breakfast before being transferred to the airstrip to catch your return flight to Nairobi. Here you will connect with the flight to Samburu Game Reserve where you are met and transferred to your camp in time for lunch. An afternoon/ evening game drive is followed dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Samburu
Full day in Samburu with morning and afternoon game drives in the camp's 4 WD vehicles. Accommodation will be on full board basis. In addition to the 'big five', the harsh and arid plains of Samburu are home to certain species of game, which are unique, in Kenya, to the northern parks - Beisa Oryx, long necked gerenuk, Grevy zebra, blue-shanked Somali ostrich and reticulated giraffe.
Day 5: Samburu - Masai Mara
After breakfast you drive to the airstrip for your flight to Masai Mara. On arrival in the Mara you are transferred to your luxury tented camp for lunch, an afternoon game drive, dinner and overnight. The Mara considered by many to be Kenya's finest game reserve (an extension of the Serengeti plains famous for the annual migration of thousands of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti ) is home to the "big five" - elephant, buffalo, rhino, leopard and, in particular, black-manned lion for which the Mara is noted.
Day 6: Masai Mara
A full day in the Mara with morning and afternoon game drives. The grasslands abound with plains game and the rivers, which traverse the Reserve, are teeming with crocodile and hippo. Many prides of lion have made the Mara their home and leopard and cheetah are often sighted.
Day 7: Masai Mara - Nairobi
After an early morning game drive and breakfast, fly back to Nairobi arriving at approximately midday.
