AT 90: Best of Mount Kenya – 7 days
This trek offers of the best views of Mt. Kenya's main peaks, with gradual climb, which can be done leisurely. You traverse the mountain by ascending the Sirimon track joining the best of Timau track, then join the best of Chogoria and descend the Naro moru track.
Day 1: Nairobi – Naro moru River Lodge
Depart Nairobi at 09.00a.m and drive through Kikuyu Farmlands, arriving at Naro moru River Lodge in late morning, with spectacular views of Mt. Kenya (if it's a clear day) Night and Dinner at Naro moru River Lodge-LD
Day 2: Naro moru – Judmier Camp
After breakfast, you are picked up from the Lodge at 0930hrs and driven past Nanyuki town to the Sirimon park gate. From the gate is an easy walk to Judmaier camp (3-4 hours) at 11.0000ft. Night spent under canvas listening to the sounds of the African night-BLD
Day 3: Judmeir Camp-Sirimon Valley
After breakfast trek up the Moorland and walk from Sirimon track at altitude 13,000 feet contouring into the Sirimon Valley (Liki North). This is a seldom-visited area with a tremendous amount of plain game to be spotted. Overnight in Sirimon valley-altitude 13,000 ft. (3-4 Hours)
Day 4: Sirimon-Halls Tarns
It’s an early start out of the Sirimon valley and into the head of the Hinde Valley. You then cross the Nithi and the Gorges Valleys. This is undoubtedly one of the most scenic areas of the mountain with its 1,000-foot vertical cliffs, its virgin valleys and cascading waterfalls, one of the most spectacular trekking areas in Kenya. Night spent camping at Hall Tarns, 14,000ft. (4-6 Hours).
Day 5: Austrian Hut
Continue ascending to Australian Hut for the night (4-6 Hrs).
Day 6: Austrian Hut – Met Station
Alpine ascent of the third highest peak point Lenana (16,355ft) taking 4 hours of stiff walking to the summit. Descend to Teleki Valley and have breakfast at Mackinder's camp (13,900ft). Then proceed to Met Station camp for the night (7-10 Hours).
Day 7: Nairobi
After breakfast you continue descending to the park gate (2-3 Hours) where you meet the vehicle for your transfer back to Nairobi
