This trek takes you through the less crowded and scenic Sirimon trek and across the northern shoulders at a height of 11000feet, where little grows at its extreme heights. In the high valleys, some of the world's spectacular mountain plants flourish. The lobelias grow even higher than the twenty-foot high groundsel.
Day 1: Nairobi-Old Moses Camp
09:00 hrs, we pick up clients from Nairobi and depart with picnic lunch enroute, to the National Park Gate on the Sirimon trail, then a 2-4 hrs steady walk to Old Moses Camp (3350m) for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Old Moses Shipton’s Camp
After breakfast you hike up Mackinder's Valley to Shipton's Caves (4150m). This is a dramatic Landscape with lobelias all around and the view of the peaks of the Mountain a head (6-7 hrs hikes). Dinner and overnight at Shipton's-BLD
Day 3: Shipton’s Camp – Mackinder’s Camp
A very early start (pre-dawn) using your flashlight, as it will be dark for an attempt of Point Lenana (4,985m) before sunrise. From here on a clear day, you can see Mount Kilimanjaro the Africa's Highest Mountain then descends to Mackinder's camp at 4200m (5-6hrs hike). In the afternoon you have an opportunity to trek into Teleki valley from the camp (optional). Dinner and overnight at Mackinder’s camp.
Day 4: Mackinder’s Camp – Met Station
After breakfast we continue descending through bamboo forests to Met Station at 3048m for
Dinner and overnight (4-6 hrs).
Day 5: Met Station-Nairobi
The Walk from the Mountain continues with the descent to the Park Gate (3-4 hrs) to meet your Vehicle for your return journey to Nairobi arriving by afternoon.
