Safari Description: This Safari takes you to Amboseli national park –arguably Kenya’s most popular National park for two days before snaking its way back to Nairobi for lunch. From Nairobi you descend the Great Rift Valley escarpment to Lake Naivasha for a night then to Lake Nakuru – Home to over 350 bird species. The last two nights are spent on the Masai Mara dubbed the 8th wonder of the world.
Safari Itinerary...
Day 1: Nairobi-Amboseli
Depart Nairobi after breakfast proceeds to Amboseli National Park. You will pass through the Athi plains the home of the proud Masai tribe to Amboseli National Park a place of stark contrast. The greatest attraction is the vast herds of Elephant within the park and the bull Elephant that have the longest tusks in Kenya. Arrive at Oltukai Lodge in time for lunch. The evening game drive will complete this full day and allow the clients to have seen and experienced the wilds of Africa in its natural state. Amboseli National Park is dominated by Mount Kilimanjaro the highest Mountain in Africa. Dinner and overnight at your lodge-LD
Day 2: Amboseli National Park
Full day in Amboseli National Park with morning and afternoon game viewing drive inside the Park. Amboseli is a photogenic Park and hosts a great number of game and bird life including the lion, huge herds of elephant and the splendid cheetah. Enjoy early morning spectacular views of the snow-capped Mountain. All meals and overnight at your lodge - (BLD)
Day 3: Amboseli -Lake Naivasha
Today, it’s an early start after breakfast and enjoy a morning game drive as you drive out of the park via Namanga boarder point and continue to Nairobi where you stop briefly for lunch at The Tamambo Restaurant in Westlands. After lunch, you depart Nairobi and drive to the Edge of the Great Rift Valley and stop briefly for the view. This magnificent valley extends all the way from Lebanon across Egypt and Ethiopia down to Malawi. You continue down the valley to Lake Naivasha Country Club. The Club is set on the shores of the Lake and enjoys a superb compound very good for bird watching. After check-in an afternoon boat ride to Crescent follows. On the Crescent Island you have an opportunity to walk among large herds of plains game, which includes waterbucks, grants and Thompson’s gazelle, zebra and birds. You get back to the club for dinner and overnight. (BLD
Day 4: Lake Naivasha-lake Nakuru
Leaving Lake Naivasha, you drive leisurely past Lake Elementaita with its formidable population of flamingoes that dot its shoreline to Lake Nakuru National Park for a short game drive enroute to the lodge for lunch. Lake Nakuru is shallow water mass fed by rivers Njoro and nderit. The relatively shallow depth allows for growth of algae, which attract the one and half million of, lesser and greater flamingoes that feed on the shores. In addition, more than 350 different birds’ species have been recorded in this park. Animals to be seen include giraffes, rhinos, waterbucks and a host of other animals. Lunch is followed by an afternoon game drive, dinner and overnight at Lake Nakuru Lodge/Lion Hill Lodge - (BLD)
Day 5: Lake Nakuru-Masai Mara
Early this morning we depart Lake Nakuru and drive through the Rift Valley, passing the Suswa Mountains and nearby Mount Longonot, a relatively young volcanic reminder of the Great Rift Valleys’ violent past. You arrive at your lodge in the Masai Mara National Reserve in time for lunch. The Masai Mara is a natural extension of the Serengeti eco-system and has an amazing concentration of wildlife. The largest population of lions in Kenya is found here, along with large herds of plains game. The Masai Mara may also be the best place in Kenya to view cheetah and the rare black rhino. Later this afternoon we enjoy another game drive.
Day 6: Masai Mara - full day
Today you have a full day in the Masai Mara. You start off in the morning with picnic lunch just after breakfast and drive probably down to the hippo pools and watch this ancient mammals wallowing in the muddy brown waters of the rivers, which traverse this reserve. Your picnic lunch is in the Park after which you continue the game drives to a different part of the park and search for animals not yet seen. You will find the undulating plains dotted with rocky outcrops (kopjes) that are favorite resting places for lions in the heat of the day. You return to the Lodge just before dark for dinner and overnight. BLD
Day 7: Masai Mara-Nairobi
An early morning (before breakfast) game viewing drive at Masai Mara in search of any wild game you might have missed previously. Return to lodge for breakfast and afterwards drive back to Nairobi- B
